Ming-Hang Zhang


As an emerging young musician, Ming-Hang Zhang aims to bring emotion to her playing and to her audience. She grew up in China and move to the United States for pursuing her bachelor degree of music in Boston when she was 16. She received her first piano lesson at age seven. She gave her first recital at age 12 in Liaoning and made her concerto debut in Perugia when she was 14. She was admitted to the Middle School of Shenyang Conservatory in 2006. She has won several prizes in some competitions in China, and she has received the YAMAHA Asian Music Scholarship in 2009. In 2012, she was admitted to New England Conservatory in Boston when she was sixteen. She has performed in some venues including Liaoning Theater, Jordan Hall, Sala dei Notari, Keiter Center, Pierce Hall, the Concert Hall of Shenyang Conservatory, and so forth. When not at the piano, she enjoys composing and reading.

In 2007, she won the first prize in KAWAI Piano Competition in Shenyang division. In 2008, she was selected to perform in International Music Festival in Osaka, Japan. In 2009, she won the third prize in Shenyang Music Cup Piano Competition and was selected to compete in the Manchester International Piano Concerto Competition. In 2011, she won the second prize in Ameri-China Organization Piano Competition. In 2014, she was selected as one of the competitors in World Piano Competition in Cincinnati.  In addition, she has attended some summer festivals including Shanghai Music Festival, Perugia International Music Festival; Changchun International Music Festival, Walnut Hill International Music Festival, Sichuan International Music Festival, Summer Camp in University of Pennsylvania and Mozarteum International Summer Academy.  

She has learned piano with professor Ya-Fen Zhu, Qu-Ming Zhang, Chu-Fang Huang, Bruce Brubaker and Hung-Kuan Chen. Her coaches include Max Levinson, Nai-Yuan Hu, Stephen Drury, and Vivian Weilerstein. She got opportunities to take master classes with Alexander Korsantia, Yoheved Kaplinsky, Robert Macdonald, Barry Snyder, Solomon Mikowsky, Meng-Chieh Liu, Oxana Yablonskaya, and Boris Berman. Ms. Zhang is currently enrolled at New England Conservatory in Boston.
